Kaypire’s Mission: Kaypire is on a mission to promote understanding, raise awareness and encourage education about mental health. We want to help normalize the discussion around mental health by openly and candidly talking about such issues. We believe it’s about time to chip away at all of the stigma and we aim to have a hand in eliminating prejudices and preconceived notions around the subject.
Kaypire’s Story: After ransacking the internet for mental health related topics, I realized that a majority of the sources that existed were approaching the subject medically — WebMD types of articles, research papers, dissertations, or just plain checklists of symptoms. Then, there were those blogs out there that dedicated small sections to mental health topics, but mental health was rarely the sole focus. While these resources were informative and super helpful in expanding knowledge on the subject, I noticed there was a key component missing, relatability.
When you’re struggling, you want something you can relate to. You want to hear stories from people who experienced similar struggles and how they overcame them. When you’re in a dark place, you don’t care for statistics, checking off boxes on a list or reading long research papers from someone who clearly never had any mental health issues of their own. I noticed there was a huge lack of sources that came from someone with both knowledge and personal experience. So, I thought why not create one? And, Kaypire was born.
I started Kaypire because I wanted to combine the knowledge I acquired from my psychology degree and my personal struggles with mental health, while being both informative and relatable. I wanted to create something where everyone and anyone could come and feel like they benefited in one way or another. Not only do I share my tips, advice and knowledge with you, but Kaypire is also a safespace and platform for others to share their stories (have something you want to share – click here)
Fun fact: Kaypire originally started off as a fashion blog (If you scroll down far enough, you will find the remnants of those times.) While I love fashion, putting that much effort towards it was not something that set my soul on fire or aligned with my core being. I realized my true passion was mental health and this led to Kaypire being reborn as a mental health blog.
